On September 16th, 2012, Harpeth Baptist Church will be participating in 2 events. One is Homecoming Sunday. What do you think of when you hear Homecoming Sunday? Gospel singing? Dinner on the ground? Seeing family and friends that you haven’t seen for a long time? These things can all be a part of homecoming. But I suppose what it is really about is coming home. Maybe you have moved away from the place where you grew up. You have your own family now, your own home, and your own church. Maybe you have had to relocate because of your occupation, school, or military service. But when you can you make the trip back to the place where your church roots are for Homecoming. For a couple of hours you can enjoy the memories of the past with old friends and family while you worship the Lord together in a special place.

The other event on this date is National Back to Church Sunday. We will join thousands of churches across the country to encourage folks to come back to church. Many people who have attended church in the past have stopped attending. There are many people right here in our own community who are in this situation. There are many who would come back if they received an invitation from someone they know. Let’s reach out to the folks around us and invite them to come home.

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;

See, on the portals He’s waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.

Come home, come home,
You who are weary, come home;

Are you weary? Come home.

Are you lonely? Come home.

Are you discouraged? Come home.

Are you looking for a church home?

Join us on September 16th. We can’t wait to welcome you home.
