Applications from 1 Kings

The Story: 1 Kings 7:1-12

We ended chapter 6 with the Temple building being finished. In the first few verses of chapter 7 we read of Solomon building his palace. His own house would include his palace, personal dwellings, and places for his wife(s). Without going into great detail about the construction, I would like to make a few applications regarding the logistics.

The Application:

Don’t Rush the Work, 1 Kings 7:1

Solomon allowed for many years to elapse while he built the Temple and especially his palace.

What were you doing 7 years ago? I was 22, we were getting ready to have Jack. I was a Youth Pastor, P.E. teacher, and coach. In my plans I didn’t want to pastor until at least 40!

13 years ago? I was 16!  I just started driving. I would be in the middle of 10th grade.

A lot can happen in 7 or 13 years.  7 or13 years ago I would never picture myself where I am today…2012 would never get here! But, looking back, it seems like just yesterday and very little time has passed.

Don’t rush the work. We have a tendency to operate 1 year at a time. If it is meant to be today, it is tomorrow, etc. Many times, we miss God’s will by missing His timing.

Where will you be in 7 years? 13?
