There are many things in life worth fighting for.  There are many worthy causes that need defending…but they can’t all be defended by you or by me.  As much as I would like to think that I can solve the world’s problems, I have realized that God has not called me to be the conscience of the universe.  Ladies tend to be the world’s worst!  I find myself wanting to be passionate about every cause that presents itself.  I remember when we used to work with a large Hispanic population in our church, I wanted to learn Spanish.  Then a missionary to the deaf came and presented their work to our church and I wanted to learn sign language.  I found myself thinking that if I didn’t do it, no one else would.  How self-centered of me!  Do I not think God will prepare the right soldiers for battle?  I know that all of these are good fights, and someone needs to fight them, but if we try to take on all of them on our own, we will quickly find ourselves discouraged and burned out in God’s work.  No wonder I feel like I’m spinning my spiritual wheels at times!  Just for today, I need to find my battle, and then I need to fight that battle with all of my might.  I can’t do everything, but I can do something.  What battle (or cause or ministry) has God prepared you for?  Maybe God has given you a burden for the homeless.  It could be that God gave you a special ability to work with children, or it could be politics or local government where you feel God might have you make a difference.  Young mom, it could be that God wants you to focus your efforts right now on your children and instill in them the values that will revive a new generation.  Whatever it is God has prepared for you, that is where you will find the victory you are seeking.
