Children's Ministry

We have discipleship groups that meet before each of our worship services on Sunday morning and Wednesday nights. During this time, our goal is to support families in their discipleship and bible study efforts.  Nursery is available during these times.

Children at this age are very concrete thinkers, so our goal is to build a strong foundation in bible literacy. We currently use the Joyful Life Curriculum on Sunday mornings, as it introduces children to Scripture’s most important people from both the Old and New Testaments. We also emphasize scripture memorization, catechisms, and important hymns of the faith (based on Truth and Grace book 1). On Wednesday nights, we work on memorizing the books of the bible and teaching important character traits based on stories from scripture.  While we strive to make this time enjoyable for the students, we do not sacrifice biblical education for the sake of entertainment.*

Here are the meeting times: 

• Sundays 9:30-10:15 am

• Wednesdays 6:00-6:45 pm

*Children are expected to display appropriate behaviors during these class times. If a child is having a difficult time behaving appropriately, a parent will be asked to join the child in his or her group. Sometimes, when a problem behavior persists, the best course of action is for the child to sit with the parent in the adult bible study group.

*HBC does not provide childcare. Parents are expected to attend along with their children. We have groups for adults or the family can attend together.
